Research Network deals with the issue of the Internet usage by children and youth especially from the point of possible opportunities and risks. There was an extensive research within the project on a sample of children aged 9 – 16 years in 25 European countries in 2010. At that time Slovakia hasn’t taken part at this project yet. Further data collection is scheduled for 2017 and the transnational coorporation of project from London School of Economics has been taken over by Hans Bredow Institute at the university in Hamburg. Pavel Izrael says: “Slovakia has got a real chance not to stay only white spot on the map of Europe in the meaning of available data about the Internet usage by children and youth.”

EU Kids Online project was created in 2006 as part of the European Safer Internet Programme. One of its benefits is to create an open database of studies dealing with the issue of Internet and its use by children and youth. Besides the research activities the project‘s target is to develop the awareness of Internet safety and media literacy.
