A solemn opening of the new academic year
On September, 28th, 2016 a solemn ceremony dedicated to the start of a new academic year will take place at Catholic University in Ruzomberok (CU). New students will receive their official admittance to CU. This solemn ceremony will be preceded by Holy Mass at 9:00 am. Then the blessing of the renovated dormitory will take place at 10:30 am. Finally prof. Jozef Jarab, rector CU will officially open the academic year 2016-2017 during academic gathering in the St. John Paul II Hall at 11:00 am.
Conference of Slovak Bishops awards a Prize „Fides et Ratio"
“Fides et ratio" is the title of the annual prize awarded by the Council for science, education and culture of the Bishops' conference of Slovakia, inspired by the Encyclical of the saint pope John Paul II on the dialog between faith and reason.

Former rector of CU died
Prof. Tadeusz Zasępa, catholic priest and former rector of Catholic University in Ruzomberok (CU), died Sunday, September, 18th, at the age of 70. The establishment of CU and whole academic family of CU extend the deepest sympathies and sincere condolences on his death. Prof. Zasępa taught at Department of journalism of Faculty of Arts and Letters. In the years 2008-2014 he served as rector of CU. Requiem æternam dona eis Domine.
Renovated Catholic University dorm reopened for students
The 2,7 million euro renovation for student dormitory will provide housing for 198 students. Renovation included building two new floors, elevator and replacement of the entire infrastructure of a dorm, including heating, plumbing and electrical wiring. Common spaces such as bathrooms and kitchens are added. The dormitory is ideally located in the very heart of the campus. There are also rooms adapted for students with disabilities.
