A Field Trip of Our International Students

Each year, our university welcomes several international students, mainly Erasmus+ students, who spend a semester or two studying in Ruzomberok. Discover Slovakia is one of the courses organized at the Faculty of Arts and Letters, which is offered to these students so they can learn new things about our country. This year, except regular classes, these students had a chance to visit the Orava Gallery in Dolny Kubin to find out more about the visual arts in Slovakia. The group of students, joined also by our visiting scholar Irakli Tskhvediani from Kutaisi in Georgia, was welcomed by Katarina Matuskova, our former colleague and current doctoral student, who is an art historian in the gallery. She told the group a lot about various artists, their works and in this way, students had a chance to see directly both the works from the older times but also the works of such renowned artists as Mikulas Galanda, Martin Benka, Koloman Sokol, Albin Brunovsky, Vladimir Popovic or Jan Kudlicka.

Special thanks go to the Orava Gallery in Dolny Kubin and to Katarina Matuskova for the interesting tour.
