    We shape the mind and heart: in the spirit of the Catholic moral, intellectual and academic tradition, we provide university education and training and conduct research for the integral development of the person and the good of the whole society.

     

    Faculty of Theology in Košice, Catholic University in Ružomberok strives to thoroughly understand Catholic doctrine, which it draws with the greatest care from God's revelation, and systematically explain it with its own scientific method. He also eagerly seeks the solution of human problems in the light of the same revelation (cf. Sap. Chr. art. 66).

    The special task of the faculty is to take care of the scientific and theological formation of those who are heading towards the priesthood or are preparing for special church services (cf. Sap. Chr. art. 74 § l).

     

    History and present

     

    Faculty of Theology in Košice, Catholic University in Ružomberok was established according to Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on universities and on the amendment of some laws by the charter of the rector of the Catholic University in Ružomberok issued on July 1, 2003 and the decree of the Congregation for Catholic Education.

    The Theological faculty is part of the Catholic University in Ružomberok. The legal basis of the faculty's activity is Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on universities and on the amendment of certain laws. From the point of view of canon law, this faculty was governed by the apostolic constitution of John Paul II. Sapientia Christiana (hereinafter "Sap. Chr."), issued on April 15, 1979 and the "Ordinationes" of the Congregation for Catholic Education of April 29, 1979, which are attached to the Constitution itself and the norms of the Code of Canon Law (can. 815-820 CIC). Currently, the faculty is guided by the apostolic constitution Veritatis Gaudium of Pope Francis of December 8, 2017.
